That rule sits under everything I build. A model can find a figure, explain it or act on it. The figure itself comes from governed SQL that ties back to the books, so the answer is the same every time someone asks.

One place for the data
A service business keeps its history in a scheduling tool, an accounting system, a CRM and a few ad platforms. I pull all of it into one governed lakehouse and reconcile it against the books.
One definition per number
Revenue, a sold job, cost per sale: each is defined once, in a registry, in SQL anyone can read. Every dashboard and every report draws from that one definition.
Where the customers came from
Calls, forms, ads and booked jobs get stitched together, so an owner can see what a sale cost by source and decide where the next dollar goes.
